PageFour running well under Windows 7
The Windows 7 beta has been available for a couple of months now. We’re not expecting many users to be using this, as it’s still in the early beta stages, but for those who are, one issue with PageFour has been identified. It relates to changing the location of PageFour pages, something most users probably never do. The issue makes this impossible on Windows 7, and has a knock on effect on the Options Dialog as a whole, and probably on the Export Notebooks feature.
When PageFour is run with its default settings, there should not be any problems. We’ll be testing under Windows 7 shortly, but we’re fairly sure we know what the problem is and that it will not be difficult to fix. If anyone encounters any other issues with Windows 7, please get in touch.
edit: This issue has only been reported by a single user. The current version of PageFour runs very well on Windows 7.

Any update on this? PageFour seems to be working fine for me with the Windows 7 Release Candidate, and I do not have files in the default location.

Good to know not everyone’s affected by the problem Bob. If you do run into any Windows 7 issues, please let me know.

Same here. I’ve just installed Win7, moved pagefour files to a different partition and everything is working fine.

Hello Darren, is there any news on the updated Pagefour and its public release?

Sorry I haven’t replied sooner, but I was away for the past week. There will be a new version of PageFour coming out in a couple of months.

Thank you Darren. Pagefour is nearly perfect the way it is, but it’s nice to know you are polishing it up even more.
Happy Holidays.

Looking forward to further development of this daily tool. It’s definitely worth it.

This is a nearly perfect program, except that it seems like there’s no thesaurus for languages other than English. I’d like to know if the new version of PageFour will incorporate this feature. I just downloaded the unlicensed version and installed the Spanish and French dictionaries but they only work for the spell check and not for the tesaurus. ¿Does this tool come with the full license?

I’m afraid not Eva. The only thesaurus we have is an English language thesaurus.

I know this is an old post but I just wanted to comment on two things. 1) The program works flawlessly for me on two Widows 7 machines. And 2) I noticed Eva mentioned the thesaurus and wanted to chime in. Although the current one works well, a feature request from me would be a dictionary verse for each entry. Then when you view the items in the thesaurus you get their meaning - helping you to decide which word best fits the meaning you are striving for.
By the way, a feature request area would be great!

Thanks Paul. We’ve only had one reported issue with Windows 7, and it was in a beta version. I run PageFour on Windows 7 myself without any difficulties.
I hope to have more user interaction shortly. Watch this space.

This thread is old.
Has development of PageFour stopped?

No.

Thanks, Darren.
I love your product, but I didn’t want to commit too heavily if it was going away soon. I own Word, Open Office, MyNovel, Writer’s Cafe, and WriteNow. Each of them are too cluttered for me to think. Yours coupled with the Mind Map software I use for plotting (and Right Writer for grammar checking) work well for me. I hate everything piled into one app. That slows the app and my work down. In fact, I’d use one of the minimalist word processor’s if they could format a manuscript and allow me to navigate chapters properly.
That said, please keep up the great work!

Hi Darren. I’m *a little* late responding to your post, LOL. I’m soooo happy there’s a new version of PageFour coming
I’m not going to bug you and ask the “When” question. I’ll wait as long as it takes! I absolutely love PageFour.

Is there an update on the Windows 7 issue with PageFour when PageFour is run with files in a location that is not the default? I have been using PageFour for two weeks and I immediately moved the file folder location (not knowing about this issue) and so far, there’s been no problem. I also just downloaded version 1.7.

This issue was unique to small number of users running a beta version of Windows 7. It hasn’t been reported with the official release version of Windows 7.
