Where are my files?

I've been working on a novel, writing in NoteTab with the text in one file and my notes in another, but when I hit 6,000 words it started getting clunk and I went looking for something else. As PageFour looked good and had a trial download, I installed it as my first step.

I created a notebook for my book, created a folder named Text, and a page for each chapter. I'm liking what I see.

However, I thought I'd better save the file or files, so I went to the Notebook menu and hit Save. As I hadn't saved before, I expected to get a file dialog. I didn't.

I know exactly where I want this file to be, specifically in F:/Van/Conductor, on the server where it's on a mirrored disk and it gets backed up automatically. I'm pretty careful to make sure to never save anything valuable on a workstation, and I get *really* nervous if I don't even know where stuff is!

PageFour's auto-save feature is switched on by default. There should be no need to ever save your work, as it is always saved for you. The location of PageFour's individual pages is fixed in the Notebook and Folder hierarchy, though the location of all your PageFour data is user definable:

PageFour does not follow the more traditional approach of other word processors, whereby you open a file, work on the file, and save that file to any location you wish on your PC.

If you do choose to change the location of PageFour's Notebooks to a network drive, then that drive must be accessible at all times.

Okay, that's workable. As I am the network administrator here, if the network is down I'm not likely to be doing any creative writing!

Having been raised with a library mindset I really want to be able to put the "Conductor" files together, including the PageFour folder, and I see that this is not possible. That's not fatal, as I'm already used to having e-mails related to every project being stored together, but it's not a pattern I consider ideal.

It does, however, mean that if I decide to keep using PageFour I can move all the PageFour data to the server for safety. I do systems work for my living, and over the years I've learned that servers are far more reliable than workstations, so I try not to keep real data on workstations.

So, the answer is at least half of what I needed, and the more important part. Thanks.
